apparently someone set up arcade versions of jw video games for the international delegates visiting madrid.

The game cabinets and the screen look almost exactly the same as the world famous game called Mario. The artwork with the bricks and questions mark is a rip-off.
I had to look twice because I thought the word Madrid was Mario because the font is so close.
I would love to know what the context of these video games are all about.

don't you find it interesting how some topics and explanations on this board are sometimes addressed in magazine studies?.
for example, i remember commenting (i'm sure it had been mentioned many times before) not too long ago about how the organization uses the "spirit led" phrase in their baptism question.
and this naturally tells members they are indeed claiming divine guidance.
Companies pay a lot of money for market research.
This site is free market research for the writing committee at HQ, with every aspect of living as a jw, leaving the org and everything in between discussed in depth.
Contributors to this forum have provided a crystal clear picture as to what it means to be a jw and the reasons one may have for leaving.
I'm not saying that the org let's forums like this dictate their policy but it would be surprising if they didn't take notes.
All companies want to know what their stake holders are thinking.
with all the scandals of the organization, it would .
be sound and logical from a human or strategic viewpoint,.
that they loosen the reins of control and be more honest with its members.
The GB are consolidating the org. into a streamlined, low cost undertaking because it makes sense, not necessarily because numbers are dropping.
I speak to old friends still in and I have responses ranging from those that agree with me, but still remain in, to those that now refuse to speak to me even though I am not DF'd, marked or disassociated.
Some people haven't even thought about the overlapping generation stuff, let alone all the other changes and scandals over the last decade and if they have, they find a way to reconcile it.
The same old catch phrases, Trust in Jehovah, Wait on Jehovah etc.
The Gb has simply made it too inconvenient for the average JW to leave, it is primarily for social/ family reasons most JW's stay.
apparently, according to my mother, the worst thing that could happen to me is not dying in a car crash or getting cancer but instead would be me leaving jehovah and his organization.
i of course realize this is the position of jws but to hear my own mother verbalize it on a gentle walk in the woods was painful to say the least.
needless to say, i cannot tell her i am mentally out..
When I was in my mid twenties I worked with a jw slightly younger than me who had been recently disfellowshipped.
I happened to be in the same cong as his mother and I was talking to her one night at the meeting and asked her how it was going with her df'd son.
She told me that her son 'was nothing, just a nothing'.
Hard to believe a mother that carried her son in her own body could say something like that.

i think that, more than anything else, the fact that the septuagint and the masoretic text are so different, is what made me stop believing in the bible.. and more than anything else, the most striking differences between the septuagint and the masoretic text have to be the genealogies of genesis 5.. the genealogies of genesis 5 are crucial to the jehovah's witnesses, the adventists, and many other religions that place an emphasis on time prophecy.why is that?because they try to make out when the "end of the world" happens based on the 6000 years of human existence, they have to use genesis 5. and, if the numbers in genesis 5 in the bible most people in the western world use are wrong, then the time to creation is wrong, and then the "end of the world date" is wrong.so, what are the differences?the account tells the ages in this format:x person lived for y years.

I was watching something about the pyramid of Giza and how it pre-dates Noahs flood. I was doing some light research and found an article about how the Septuagint and the Masoretic differ when giving ages and time spans in Genesis. The result being wildly different chronology, with the Septuagint timeline putting the flood before the pyramid of giza was built. Which makes more sense if you believe that stuff.
Comparing the Masoretic to the Septuagint is something I hadn't even considered, maybe its because of years as an indoctrinated JW but I assumed the 2 would be close enough textually to make any difference trivial.
But they are different and the more you dig, the murkier it seems to get as to what to believe. Once you pull back the curtain, it astounds me that people devote their lives and the lives of their children to any Judeo- Christian faith based on this information.
this doctrine / belief that jehovah`s witnesses have , surely raises a few questions that they do not address.. 1.this spirit being challenged god by questioning his authority and offering eve an alternative making himself satan.. and this took place on earth ,the garden of eden.
so he who became satan had access to the earth.. 2. all throughout the old testament , the hebrew scriptures do we find examples of satan interfering with gods plan of things either by himself or his followers .. 3.their are just too many examples to list individually ,however a few key ones would be , the nephilim , job when god in heaven asks him where he has been , and his reply , from roving about on the earth .
, etc.etc.. 4.and of course in the new testament , where jesus is taken up into a mountain to be tempted by satan for fourty days ?.
No animal is aware that they are naked, yet all creatures and plants have sex, more or less.
